Calis
beach is just a short boat ride away from Fethiye harbour, the water
taxis are frequent, running every half hour across the bay or alternatively
you can catch a dolmus (local bus) which run frequently from the bus
station in Fethiye. The journey takes around 20 minutes to reach Calis
Beach.
Calis
has a main promenade with lovely views across the sea to the islands,
mountains and hills in the distance. Most of the bars and restaurants
are situated along the sea front, serving most styles of cuisine, whether
you like Turkish, Italian or Chinese, this is the perfect place to sit
and relax after a long hard days sunbathing.

The
long shingle beach at Calis stretches many miles, there are lovely quiet
coves to explore if you take the time for a long walk. The constant
cooling onshore breeze is wonderful especially in the heat of July and
August. The far end of the beach is also the nesting place for loggerhead
turtles, which you may be lucky enough to see on your visit.
There are
also gold, jewellery and gift shops situated in the streets away from
the promenade for those holiday souvenirs. On Sundays head for the weekly
market which is good for linen, towels, sheets, clothing, especially
tee shirts and sweat shirts. Leather goods especially handbags and belts
can be found at bargain prices.
You will
find all of the bars and restaurants are very friendly and you will
be made very welcome by the owners and staff.
The one
thing that Calis is famous for is the spectacular sunsets, there's nothing
quite like dining in one of the restaurants with a good glass of wine,
watching the sun going down over the water.
The area
also attracts many other European visitors as well as being popular
with British holidaymakers. Other attractions include a water park,
boat trips and for the more energetic windsurfing and water-skiing.

The Calis
area is currently undergoing quite a lot of expansion, with many villas
and apartments under construction, including improvements to roads and
the whole resort generally.
