Deniz is one of the most photographed resorts on Turkeys coast and adorns
the covers of many holiday brochures, it has some of the most striking
scenery on Turkeys Mediterranean coastline. Olu Deniz is accessible
from the mountain road leading from Fethiye, the good local bus service
is a cheap and easy way to make your way there. The bus ride takes you
through the lively resort of Hisaronu then down to Olu Deniz. The road
ends here.
With its pine covered mountain backdrop Olu Deniz is famous for the
'Blue Lagoon' and its beach.
The main beach of white sand stretches along the resort front, which
is lined with a wide choice of bars and restaurants, to the entrance
to the Lagoon. The inviting clear waters where the suns rays reflect
off the pebbled seabed turning the water turquoise, is one of the main
attractions for visitors who enjoy swimming and snorkelling. There are
also many other water sports available from the main beach. Cross the
sand bar from the main beach and you will find yourself at the Blue
Lagoon, there is a small crescent of pebbles and sand, a lovely
sheltered place to soak up the sun, with views across the lagoon to
the pine clad mountain side. The water is clear and calm, a lovely place
to swim. Alternatively a Kayak can be hired to explore the lagoons gentle
waters.
The whole of the Olu Deniz area is a conservation zone and further expansion
is strictly controlled.
